1920s Chinese Mah Jong Set W/Racks

This Vintage Mah Jong set is contained in a sturdy dove tailed wooden box, most likely Rosewood. It has some slight surface scratches which is to be expected, I believe it was made in the 1920‘s.

 It measures 11 wide x 7.75”deep x 2.25” tall, the top panel slides off to reveal the compartments. The panel features 2 Chinese Characters and between them a framed Bird. These are gold gilded.

It has Chinese Characters on the bone & bamboo tiles some of which show some yellowing with age but they are in great condition. The large compartment contain the 148 tiles and the side compartments contain  the counting sticks, a 1” round box with a lid and 4 plastic disks inside and a little wood box, 1/2" x 1 1/2” and a slide off lid containing 4 tiny 1/8” bone dice inside.

Included also are 4 large wood Racks with scoring instructions on the bottom of each rack. They measure 16” long 1 1/2” tall and 3.25” deep. There is 1 blue rack ( probably for East Wind) and 3 red racks. They are in excellent condition!
